The mare darted across the open plain, her tail and mane whipping out behind her. She smiled, well smiled as much as a horse could without looking possessed anyway, as the wind rushed passed her. She was at full gallop, and her pelt had been streaked a dusty brown that shone out against her obsidian black fur. Her feet pounded the ground in a rythmatic fashion, and her heartbeat mimicked this pattern. She breathed heavily as her muscled flexed and shortened with each stride. And as she neared a small brook that eventually flowed into the river that separated three of the five herds from each other, she leaped and landed on the other side with a light thud. She continued running until she got to a rise in the ground, and from there she spotted her buddy, a buddy that was almost like a sister to her, Kharress. She whinnied a greeting and cantered over to her, she slowed to a trot as she neared and eventually stopped on front of her. "Hey Kharress!" Moonrise said.

Kharress was grazing one fine afternoon when the sound of thundering hooves disturbed her peace. Snorting her annoyance and throwing her head up to see what trouble was on the horizon, she was greeted with a friendly nd unexpected surprise. Spotting her best friend Moon on the hilltop above her, Kharress let out a shrill neigh in greeting. Rearing up, the deep auburn mare sped across the flat ground toward her buddy. Slowing to a canter she circled her friend and reared again striking out her front hooves. It had been a few days since Moon's last visit and Kharr had begun to miss her dearly.
Moon! I've missed you!
She shrieked excitedly. Kharr was one of those bold and stubborn mares who refused to live with the herd. Most of the time she stayed out in the plains on her own. Moon, being her only true friend, was pretty much the only mare who dared leave the safety of the herd to visit her. And for that she was most grateful, because though it was by her own choice, she was often lonely. Moon was her only source of companionship but if anyone were to spend time with her she was definitely glad it's Moon. She was fun and courageous and when the two were together there was never a dull moment.

Moon reared after her buddy did. "I've missed you too." she said, beaming. "Aparently, leader is considering moving the herd to the next feeding grounds soon. Sheesh, I mean really why's he so antsy lately?" she said. "But anyway how have you been?" she asked.

Pffftt beats me. I haven't seen him in months. I only expect to find him snooping around during breeding season, that's the only time he visits.
Kharress told her friend with an added eye roll and disbelieving snort for good measure.
Oh you know, the usual. Just hanging about, running, grazing, sleeping in the sun. The good life.
She winked and trotted a circle, wisking her tail around her to emphasize her pleasure in the life she lived.
How 'bout you my friend? Any other interesting tid bits of news or gossip from the herd?
She asked with a sly look in her sparkling blue eyes.

"hehe, yea, he's defiantly got his eye on the mares. You should see the looks he gives em'." she said, laughing. He had never given moonrise that look, and for good reason, she has one strong kick that could injure any stallion she didn't want. "I've been fine, some of the mares are starting to swoon over him though, the ones that haven't think their out of their minds. And Aparently the Plato herd has gotten a new lead stallion." she said, and smirked, the stallion of their herd was so corny, it was pathletic. "Anyway, I found some sugar cane near a small stream. Wanna head over there and get some?" she asked

Hah, sounds just like him... and really? Do you know who? I wonder if he's nice like the last one or just a total dictator.
Kharr scoffed with a chuckle before listening intently to her friend as she began to speak again.
Sure, let's go! I can't even remember the last time I had sugar cane... Lead on my dear!
She replied excitedly, lifting her front feet off the ground a little to strike out her hooves. Kharr whinnied and tossed her head enjoying the feeling of her silky black mane flowing around her. As her hooves came back in contact with the ground a plume of dirt rose into the air.

"let's go then!" moon said exidedly and started at a trot, then she sped up to a canter, and then burst into full speed. She ran over the plains of her herd, with her buddy beside here. When she neared she slowed to a canter and then stopped when she reached the canes. She ripped one off it's stalk and started chewing on it. "this stuff is awesome". She said.

Kharress followed along full speed ahead until hey reached their destination. Slowing her pace to a flashy trot the mare stretched her neck and neighed. She was so excited for their oncoming sugar high. Reaching her head down she snatched a long stock of sweet sugarcane and stopped so she could chew.
mmmmm
She mumbled while relishing it's delicious taste.

"Very sweet..."
Kharress mumbled back between large, unladylike bites of the amazing grass.
"This is some good grazing..."
She spoke dramatically with a light laugh before raising her head and craning her neck to look to where Moon was standing, head still down and munching.
"So, I heard there was a new mare. Is that true? Oh, what was her name again.. Issa... Tia... Something like that. I heard she's pretty flashy, if you know what I mean..."
Kharr trailed off, not one for gossiping without even knowing the mare personally yet.

"Oh her, yea she joined a few days ago." Moon said between mouthfulls. "And your right, she does have a reputation for being flashy. Aparently shes a real heart braker, but apparently is really loyal to friends." she said.

occ: I dont know if this threads open so sorry if it isnt :L
Issantia had recently joined the Campille herd and had been happy with just grazing, drinking and sleeping but she had to admit, it was now becoming tiresome. The checkerboard furred fae was yearning for some action, some sort of event that the mares could talk about for days after! Tia didn't care whether the Plato herd had a new lead stallion, or that they were moving to new grazing areas. Tia was bored and when the obsidian fae Moon sloped out of sight that morning, she couldn't resist following her.
Galloping a way behind the other mare, Issantia wondered where they were going but as soon as the thought crossed her mind, a new scent drifted across her maw. The fae quickly caught sight of the owner of that scent. A lone bay mare, grazing calmly in the open plane. The obsidian and the burnished greeted each other like old friends before speaking and then racing off again. Rushing after them,Tia was amused by their filly-like frolics and the look of pure joy on their faces as they reached a fresh patch of sugar cane. Shaking her head and smiling to herself, the duel-toned fae walked casually toward them, speaking in a clear, authoritative voice; "It's good isn't it? I'm Issantia by the way." Flashing a white toothed grin, Tia dropped her head to nibble a little of the 'cane. She genuinely liked the look of these mares, and wouldn't mind becoming better friends with them, but she wondered... Had they ever heard the phrase: Twos' company, Threes' a crowd?

Moon looked up. "Hi Issantia! This is Kharress, my friend since we were fillies. Kharress, this is Issantia, the new member you were asking about." She said with a smile as she introduced the two.

Kharr squinted her eyes to get a better look at the mare who was standing against the sun, as if to scrutinize her. After her silent examination Kharress came to the conclusion that she was indeed showy, but rightfully so. The mare has such interesting and beautiful coloring, it hardly seems like feral horse markings, but she also seems like the all around fun-loving type. Kharr smiled broadly as her bestfriend mentioned their seemingly immortal friendship.
"Ahh yes, Issantia. It's a pleasure to meet you, really. Did you follow Moon all the way out here?"
She asked with raised eyebrows, a curious and somewhat sarcastic expression on her elongated face.

Issantia watched as the gorgeous bay mare's eyes raked over her body. She could feel both mares judging her, whether she was worthy of their company kind of thing. But Tia was used to being judged. The checkboard fae stood calmly under their gazes as they scrutinized her closely. Then Kharres raised her eyebrows as she asked Tia whether she had followed Moon. Now Issantia was uncomfortable. "Err, yes I did. I'm sorry, it just I've been so bored these past few days and I liked Moon. I thought she seemed like a laugh. And I'm glad I did." Tia raised her head high, the expression on her face saying she didn't regret it. She could feel her eyes daring Kharress to say something out of line.
